Luino - Ardena - Ghirla - Brizio - Cuveglio - Cittiglio - Laveno

Vaganna, Valcuvia and Valmarchirolo are three valleys in the north of Varese. Not difficult and wavy route suitable for road bike (length of 72 km. and an uphill climb of 750 m.) That connects 2 of 7 bike hotels. The route winds in the northern part of the province of Varese on secondary roads, paved and shaded for long stretches between Lake Maggiore, Lake Lugano, Lake Ganna, Lake Ghirla and Lake Brinzio.

The route has continuous ups and downs between the hills of the Prealps of Varese.

The only significant climbs of the Side tour - 3 Varesine Valleys are:

- For those who face the path clockwise: the stretch between Brusimpiano on Lake Lugano, and the Church of Ardena (up to 3 km. with an average gradient of 6% and a maximum gradient of 8%); from the Church of Ardena you can enjoy an appreciable view of the Ponte Tresa, on the Lake Lugano and the Swiss region of Malcantone;

- For those who face the path counterclockwise: the stretch, in Valcuvia, including Cuveglio and the Castle of Cabiaglio (3 km. climb, with an average gradient of 7%).

  • the Regional Park of Campo dei Fiori;
  • Villa Della Porta Bozzolo, in Casalzuigno;
  • Museum Alfredo Binda, cyclist from Varese, in Cittiglio;
  • the Abbey of San Gemolo Ganna, in Ganna;
  • the Maglio di Ghirla, in Ghirla;
  • the Natural Reserve of the Marsh Brabbia, in Inarzo;
  • Church of Ardena, in Ardena, from which you can enjoy an appreciable view of the Ponte Tresa, on the Lake Lugano and the Swiss region of Malcantone.

NOSINESS

The Virgin Mary of cyclists, a small shrine of the two wheels on the road between Bedero and Brinzio with many plaques in memory of known and unknown cyclists.
