Wladimiro Panizza

Vladimiro Panizza, said "Miro", was born in Fagnano Olona on the 5th of June 1945.

Before attempting with cycling in the junior categories, he opens a short period as a football player in the ranks of Pro Patria of Busto Arsizio.

During his long professional career (from 1967 to 1985) participated in 18 editions of the Tour of Italy and four in the Tour de France and was able to get some important victory in races of Romagna, Milan-Turin, Midi Libre, Etna and Friuli.

He got the jerseys of Bianchi and GIS, first alongside Moser and then Saronni.

The Tour of Italy in 1980 represents the culmination of his career earning a second place behind the Frenchman Bernard Hinault.

Runs up to 40 years and definitely abandoned the competitive activity in October 1985, devoting himself to the role of sporting director.

Cassano Magnano dies on the 21st of June 2002 for a heart attack.
